Springfield Kiss-A-Pig Gala
an event of the American Diabetes Association
2010 Gala is presented by St. John's Hospital

May 14 , 2010 - Crowne Plaza - Springfield, Illinois

Welcome to the Springfield Kiss-A-Pig Gala website!

The Kiss-A-Pig fundraiser is an exclusive event of the American Diabetes Association.  It is a humorous, zany and outrageous contest between local celebrities, community leaders, and business people.  The purpose of the contest is to raise "votes/dollars" for their campaigns.  Each vote is equal to one dollar.  The candidate with the most "votes/dollars" wins the privilege of kissing a live baby pig at the Gala.

We choose a pig to honor because insulin, the drug used to help control diabetes, was first made from the pancreas of a pig.

The Springfield Kiss-A-Pig Gala will benefit diabetes research, educational programs, and children's camps.

This is our 11th Annual Kiss-A-Pig Gala in Springfield and we intend to make it the best yet!  We hope you will join us at the Crowne Plaza on May 14th to watch the winner "kiss-a-pig".

2009 Kiss-A-Pig Results

The 2009 Kiss-A-Pig Gala was a huge success!  Thanks to our candidates, our generous sponsors and donors, and all of our guests, we raised over $183,000 for the American Diabetes Association.  Thank you to all who helped make this a great event.  Co-chair Margaret Dlouhy also announced that the Springfield Kiss-A-Pig event has now surpassed $1 million in funds raised over its ten year run.

Our 2009 Kiss-A-Pig champion is Bill Holland.  Bill raised the most money in his campaign and had the honor of kissing the baby pig at the gala on May 15, 2009.  As Bill said that night, "The amount of money raised by this event is very important, but equally importantly, was the awareness about diabetes brought to Springfield and the surrounding communities by all of the candidates during their fundraisers and other campaign activities".  Congratulations Bill!
